Uh. Dontcha mean ‘Mousse’? xD

  • How I feel about this character: He’s all right. I don’t hate him, I don’t love him. He annoys me at times, but he’s okay nevertheless.
  • All the people I ship romantically with this character: Just Shampoo.
  • My non-romantic OTP for this character: Umm…
  • My unpopular opinion about this character: God, I haven’t watched Ranma in a while, much less anything involving Mousse. Umm, I guess I can say aside from his very odd choice in weapons, he can still kick ass?
  • One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I really wish he didn’t pine over Shampoo as much as he did. Then she would’ve seen him as a good guy and gotten her act together with him.
  • my het ship: Mousse/Shampoo. IF IT WASN’T OBVIOUS ENOUGH.
  • my fem/slash ship: Ohh, God. I can’t do any Ranma slash, at all. It just doesn’t click with me. So skipping~
  • my OTP: Refer to het ship, lol.
  • my OT3: Don’t have one for him.
  • my cross over ship: Jeeesus. Um, again, don’t have nothin’ for this one.
  • my kink: I think Mousse would be a bit of a masochist?
  • a head cannon fact: He likes to swim in ponds and lakes as a duck? Lame fuckin’ headcanon, sorry.
  • my gender bend: Oh God. I’m sure if Rule 63!Mousse existed, he’d STILL be all over Shampoo. I’m sure she’d still kill him/her though.

So, am I the only one that DID NOT like the switch from having Sarah Strange dub male!Ranma to Richard Cox halfway through the anime?

Now I’ll give credit where credit is due. Cox’s voice works great for his other roles, such as Inuyasha or X-Men: Evolution’s Pietro Maximoff. That’s because these characters are dicks to a certain degree, especially Pietro. In fact, Cox’s voice-over for Pietro is one of the reasons why I grew fond of his character. It simply worked to bring out what sort of a character he is; a conniving prick. Granted, Ranma can be an asshole too, but not as much as the aforementioned characters. Hell, he doesn’t mean to be one half the time. He felt like a more likable character with Strange’s voice, and when they switched to Cox for whatever reason, it was jarring, to say the least.

Now, I know I’m gonna get the whole “Oh, Ranma and Inuyasha are similar” schpeal. It’s true, Ranma was a predecessor for Inuyasha personality-wise, and I’m sure Rumiko Takahashi meant this (if not, feel free to correct me on this.) So it’d be natural to give him the same dub voice, right? To be frank, no. Strange’s voice helped separate Ranma from being too much like Takahashi’s half-demon protagonist, and I like that. Now when I watch the later seasons of Ranma 1/2 and hear Cox’s voice, I can only hear/see Inuyasha, and it annoys me. Nothing against Inuyasha; I loved it when I was younger and I still have an appreciation for the series. But the same thing gets old after a while, and Cox did it in for me.

I don’t know. It might just be personal preference, but I like Strange’s Ranma over Cox’s Ranma.

These ARE my opinions, for the record. Feel free to add your thoughts. Although I’m sure I opened the floodgates for haters. Oh well~
